Cinnamon Fern
The Cinnamon fern is one of the largest fern plants available. It also is known as Osmunda Cinnamonea and is largely native in the eastern United States. Great for landscaping due to its sheer size and beauty. It can be classified as a perennial because it reblooms every year without replanting. This fern can be found growing in swamps, bogs, and moist woodlands. The fronds of this plant can be found to reach heights of up to 6 feet at full maturity. This fern has large wiry roots that produce the massive fronds this fern is so popular for. This fern ships barefoot.
For best results, cinnamon ferns thrive in deep shade or filtered sunlight. They can tolerate more sun when grown in wet soil. Hardy Zones 4-8. This is very easy to grow and will flourish in any shade.
Cinnamon Ferns have lovely fronds 4-6 feet tall that grow from the plant.
These beautiful shade ferns get their name from the color of their fronds. Additional fronds with a nice stiffness grow right from the base of the fern. As they begin to unfurl, they turn a sensational yellowish green and stay this color all through the summer months. When autumn arrives, they become a striking yellow that captures the eye. The symmetry of the leaves has a pleasing effect, and the changing of the colors keep this plant interesting.
One of the best qualities of this massive plant is their ease of adaptability. Shade ferns are incredible when used for a shimmering water garden but also make an excellent selection for a border in your garden. They are also an excellent choice to plant behind your outdoor patio because they will provide plenty of relaxing shade and privacy. This plant remains quite healthy without any special care and works well when planted beside flowering shrubs or plants. You can make the fronds as a centerpiece or use it for a spectacular backdrop.
This plant ships bare root (root/rhizome only) with no foliage at time of shipment.
