Product Description

Foam Flower, Tiarella Cordifolia is a clump-forming and spreading perennial.

If you've seen frothy patches of these early spring blossoming spires growing in the woods or a neighbor's yard, you know why it is called Foam Flower. The numerous, long stamens surrounding the tiny white or pinkish white petals give the blooms their airy look. The plant, Tiarella cordifolia, (referring to the tiara shape of the fruit, and the heart-shaped leaves,) grows in clumps, one to two feet wide. It can reach heights of one to one and a half feet, including flowers. Clumps can quickly spread by sending out runners.

Belonging to the saxifrage family, Foam Flower has leaves similar to it's relative, the Heuchera plant. After the lovely flowers have gone, the foliage remains an attraction in the garden. Many varieties have reddish veins, and the lobed leaves may turn a reddish bronze and remain throughout a temperate winter. This herbaceous perennial grows well in zones four through nine and needs moist, but well-drained nutrient rich soil. It attracts few pests or diseases and does not appeal to rabbits or deer. A little fertilizer and slug deterrent should be all you need to keep these plants healthy and attractive.

The Tiarella Cordifolia, Foam Flower is perfect for most any season too.

A shade-loving plant, Foam Flower makes an architecturally pleasing and carefree ground cover. It can also be used efficiently in rock gardens, or as a border, or in any woodland setting. This flower loves plenty of shade and is also a ground cover.  The blooms of this flower are white and sometimes pink.  The Foam Flower is on the small side for garden flowers only reaching heights of around 6-12 inches. This flower ships bare root year round.

This low maintenance plant also attracts birds and other wildlife.

Foam flower will be a favorite in your garden!

The Foam Flower is shipped bare root.

Roots arrived on time and in great shape. I have had trouble getting timely orders from other companies so I was happy about that. I’ll write another view in the spring the ants emerge.

This plant has not come up very well in the pots I planted them in. I will plant them in the ground and see if they will do better.

    Foam Flower plants

The three plants arrived healthy and I planted them immediately in my wooded area. Although it was too late for them to grow and bloom this year, I will eagerly watch for them next spring.
